My fiancé (boyfriend at the time) Jake, flew me half way around the world to Europe this summer for an amazing trip. On the evening of July 1st we went for a very European style dinner in Brugge, Belgium and afterwards went for a walk at sunset. This place truly looks like a fairytale movie scene! We walked to an area called Minnewater which translates to the lake of love and walked to lovers bridge. There is a ton of history behind it and now it is believed that any couple who walks over the bridge together will have eternal love. We walked about half way when he began to tell me the beautiful story of the bridge. That is when he got on one knee and asked me for my hand in marriage. The whole setting was beyond beautiful and just breathtaking! After his proposal and taking in the scenery, we proceeded to walk the rest of the bridge together so that we too will have eternal love!

The day my fiancé proposed was a beautiful Sunday. We both had the day off work so we decided to go out for lunch and go for a walk in the park. We ate and went out to Mormon Island and walked almost to the 3rd lake along the trails. Well the ground was getting muddy so we decided to stop and sit for a while. Not too long after we had sat in a dry spot, he starts poking me with dead grass. I don't think anything of it, just him being a pain, until I turn away for about a second and when I had turned back to face him, he had slid my beautiful ring on a piece of grass right in front of me. I was speechless, but if I would've been in a bad mood or said no, it would've been an awkward walk back to the car.

I had an extremely stressful job and it was one of the worst nights at work and all I wanted to do was go home and cry and cuddle with the most important man in my life. I opened my front door and it was something out of a movie. In my hallway there were 3 vases with red long stemmed roses. All over the floor were real rose petals. He had hung up those dangling Christmas lights. It looked beautiful. I followed the rose petals into our bedroom, expecting to see him there but he wasn't. Instead, there was a beautiful new dress and shoes laying on top of a ton of rose petals on the bed. On top of the dress was a note telling me to take my time and get showered and dressed and text him when I was ready.

After I showered, did my hair and makeup, and got dressed I sent him a text. He told me to go out to my car and look in the center console. There was another note that told me to go to this address I didn't recognize. I put the address into my GPS and it took me out to a beautiful lake. The sun was setting and it was one of the most gorgeous sites. He had a huge bouquet of my favorite flowers. Sunflowers and red roses.

I looked behind him and there was a blanket laying on the ground with a picnic basket. We sat down and he pulled out wine glasses and my favorite wine. He poured us each a glass and as I sat and relaxed he pulled out all my favorite snacks.

We sat and drank our wine and ate our snacks and talked. It was an amazing time. We sat there for hours. He cleaned up everything and I thought the night was over. He then asked if I wanted to go for a walk around the lake. It was a gorgeous night and the moon reflected off the lake. We stopped to look at the moon and stars.

He looked me directly in the eyes and told me that I am the best thing that has ever happened to him and that I make him the happiest man in the world. He then got down on one knee and took my hand. He continued to tell me everything that made me special and how I have changed his life for the better. He then pulled out a ring that had been passed down in his family. He asked if I would make him the happiest man in the world and marry him. I accepted. Unfortunately, I have fat fingers and the ring can't be resized but eventually we can get me a different ring.

It was the best night of my life so far and I can't wait to be his wife. It was really something out of a fairytale. Something I never thought would happen to me.

We attended the Sidney Octoberfest every year and would listen to the Denver District Pipe Band and it was the highlight of the year to listen to the bag pipes. My husband knew how much I loved listening to them so he talked to the person in charge of the entertainment and the DDPB and they all agreed he could propose on stage during the show! I was called to the stage and my husband got down on one knee and said I have made him the happiest man in the world and if I would be his wife! I of course said yes and the band played an Irish Wedding song on the bagpipes and serenaded us on stage. Less than a year later we were married and I walked down the isle to bagpipes playing in the background. It was a magical moment that still has me smiling 8 years later!
